8th bday guest post 1: When Kolkata Met Mumbai by Lakshmi Ajoy

The first story of the birthday month starts with a post from my school friend. A very talented, bubbly girl Lakshmi and her husband Ajoy. Lakshmi is a jewelry designer and a mother of two beautiful daughters.

Lakshmi says

Where Mumbai meets Kolkata...
------------------------------------------
The year of 2005 saw me turning into a young, dynamic, confident, educated and bold young lady- all of 23! I had a great job, was about to appear for my graduation finals in March and already had a degree in Hotel Management.

The Tamil festival "Pongal" was round the corner and the family had the opinion that the birth of the harvest festival would usher in some good news. Thus, began the soul-mate hunting for me without 'My' knowledge.

A trip to Shirdi later that month revealed the secrets in my parents' minds. They had begun hunting for an ideal "husband" for me.
This revelation was shocking and I, being a rebel, fought with my family for days end before a sick bedridden grandma and my overtly emotional parents convinced me that the hunt that had just begun would take no less than two years to finalize a match. That sounded a bit convincing to me, two years is enough time to set my career.

A few eager parents of the prospective grooms made random calls to try and match horoscopes and exchange pictures. Nothing seemed to be  working and I was secretly feeling elated. I had better things to focus on; a job as a duty manager in the hotel industry and the finals of my Bachelors in Arts that was round the corner.
Amidst serious preparations and the exams lurking around a week ahead, the phone bell rang one lazy afternoon with everyone else tucked in bed enjoying a post lunch siesta and me buried with my head in one fat book.

With no one else to pick the call, I reached for it and a sweet voice on the other end went: "Hello! Is this the residence of Mr. Radhakrishnan?"
Me: "Yes, it is. How can I help you?"
Voice: "We have found his daughter, Lakshmi's horoscope matching out son's. Actually, we are from Kolkata and a trip to Mumbai is soon on our cards. Would it be convenient for us to visit your place anytime next week?"
Me: (pausing in shock)" Hmm... I guess I could note your contact number and pass the same to my father. He will get back to you by evening today"

What followed was a series of fast forwarding events. The return phone call, the visit from the parents of the prospective groom-to-be with their elder daughter in law, exchanging photographs, some songs, long conversations, evening snacks and then email ids, my final graduation exam papers, our visit to the groom-to-be's aunt's house at Andheri and done!
The match making was finalized by the parents of both the parties without the groom to be and the bride to be meeting each other face to face.

Way back in 2005, India was still way behind in technology and Yahoo! was probably the only most popular mailing site and Yahoo! messenger was probably the only chat option available with voice hearing technology. The video calling, Skype and chats were a distant dream.

From the first mail that I sent out to the prospective groom whom I hadn't met him and only seen a couple of his photographs on the 2nd of April, 2005, the return mail acknowledging the receipt of my mail, from the first phone call on the 5th of May 2005, to several hours of International satellite calling every single day thereafter, the Cupid had already struck!
By the end of June, both Ajoy(the groom to be) and me (Lakshmi- the rebellious then; not so rebellious now bride to be) were head over heels in love. All without even meeting each other in person.

The dates for the D- Day was fixed, the venue was booked, advance payments made, shopping had fervently begun, decorators and caterers were finalized and yet, both Ajoy and me were waiting to meet eye to eye. The long wait of this long distance love was finally set to break when the dates of Ajoy's arrival was fixed. The company had booked his tickets and his sign off dates were decided from the ship on which he was sailing as a third mate at that time.
His parents had booked tickets to Mumbai from Kolkata as Ajoy said he wouldn't fly Kolkata directly without meeting the girl he is planning to marry.
PC: Pintrest

Eager preparations were on and the day arrived on the fateful month of July, 2005 when Mumbai was drowning in its monsoon floods. Nevertheless, no calamity could keep at bay the love birds longing to catch sight of one another. 21st of July, 2005. Ajoy's flight from Geelong, Australia to Mumbai landed at 19:45 after hours of delay owing to rough weather conditions. The family of both the parties were all set to welcome the groom to be. I was dressed in a royal salwar suit with minimal makeup but a natural glow on my face and sparkle in my eyes. The announcement of the flight's arrival was made, passengers had disembarked and crowd from the flight had begun to thin out. My sailor boy was no where in sight. I was nervous, hands had turned icy cold in anxiety and every second seemed like an hour. Finally, from far, I could see a figure emerge from the corner. My heart was quite sure it was "him" but my mind refused to accept. As the figure drew to a close, Ajoy headed straight towards me and just pushing his suitcase and jacket he had in his hands, his majestic frame and muscular arms enveloped me into a warm, comforting bear hug. The moment was frozen and their dreams had come true at last. The love birds had met.

My note: I loved the narration, so heartfelt, gives this warm feeling all through. Thanks Lakshmi for sharing your story. May God bless you and your family forever. Amen!

Book Review: The Calling by Priya Kumar

I believe in Karma, I believe in the law of attraction, I believe that everything happens for a reason.

With that thought, I believe that this book “The Calling” by Priya Kumar came to me for a reason.

About Priya Kumar

Born and brought up in Chandigarh, her journey from there to today, an internationally acclaimed motivational speaker, nationally renowned and award-winning bestselling author & the CEO and Chief Facilitator of Priya Kumar’sTraining Systems has been, in Priya’s words, “my sheer drive and purpose to make people’s lives better.”

An international publication once introduced Priya as “When Priya speaks, people listen.” A leading national daily wrote, “Priya has the power to change lives.”  All this and more, resonates the impact Priya has had on the lives of people across the globe, through her work and books.

Priya Kumar us the winner of six international awards and has been voted the most popular book on 2015 on Amazon India in the Biographies section. She has written quite a few bestselling books. One of them is “I am another you”

A brief about the book

·     The Calling: THE ANSWERS LIE WITHIN
The Calling is a spiritual adventure. It is an encounter with the truth, the wisdom and the force that is innate to us all. At the brink of a divorce and personal breakdown, Arjun took a trip into the heart of the Himalayas, on the insistence of a sadhu, who predicted that the journey up to Hemkund Sahib would align him to his purpose and change his life forever.

At every turn the mountains holds secrets and tests that urge Arjun to evolve into the person he had denied to be – himself. Pretenses, falsities, confusions and untruths fall apart as Arjun is forced to confront the mess he had created in his life.

What started off as an opportunity to escape reality, turned out to be an opportunity to escape from the dwindling spiral of self-created misery. Filled with spiritual insights and sprinkled with light humor, this story will help you find your calling, your voice and who knows, even your true self.

What I felt about the book
Recently after being to a vacation at the foot of Himalayas, I loved the cover of the book to start with. Its about this man, Arjun who has a successful but not so-satisfactory career, his family life is disoriented, his wife has filed a divorce and he is away from his daughters.
Arjun, meets with an near to death accident, with a broken neck, fractured limbs and a crashed car nowhere. He is almost sure that he is dead, but encounters a sadhu, who ties a purple thread on Arjun’s wrist and asks Arjun to go to Hemkund Sahib to find the answers to his life’s problems. The sadhu asks him to find the thread on the tree. Arjun wakes up next morning on the street at nowhere miraculously healed of his broken body.
He was sure he was dreaming until he sees the purple thread tied to his wrist. Later, the thread vanishes from his wrist and Arjun remember the sadhu’s words of finding the thread on the tree in Himalayas. After a while, he makes a decision to go to Hemkund  sahib to find that thread and solve this mystery.
With the help of his best friend Jay, Arjun starts his journey at the foot of Himalayas, where he meets Chandu, an 18 year old, spiritually high,a man with amazing knowledge about leaves, herbs, so much so that he can bring a dead back to life, with two of his donkeys.
NOTE: I loved the subtle inflicted humor with Chandu and the donkey
The lessons this book gave, has to be implemented in life this instant
  • This world is yours, its your responsibility to keep it beautiful
  • Everyone in your life is there for a reason, put them to use else they will become redundant
  • Being positive is a state of mind, and you are responsible for your own happiness. Do not let negativity seep into you
  • What you sow, so shall you reap

Everyone in this world has a bigger purpose, finding yourself, feeling happy inside will make everyone around you happy too.
As a reader, you can feel yourself travelling with Arjun through the Himalayas, you can see Chandu, you can get the whole experience sitting where you are. Its like attaining sadhana exactly where you are.
When the book ended, my heart was beating really fast in my chest, I let out a happy sigh, I fell silent for a while, pondering everything I read in my head. I loved the way something peaceful, something calming washed over me.

There are a few quotes that I loved in the book

“The end is the beginning. The beginning does not have a past, it only has the future”
“Regret is to life like termite is to wood, it will eat you up”
“I haven’t done anything that will worry me. You have however done a lot to work yourself up that you have no control over yourself”
“God is a spiritual potential in action. When one feels spiritual compassion. They feel divinity”
This is not one of those positivity preaching books, its forms a story that gives you very positive vibes.
It’s a must read for everyone. Read it for you, read it for your soul.
I give this book 4.5 / 5

CTT: We are God's books

Its been a week with lot of expected, unexpected holidays in my city. And the unexpected holiday, with a curfew like situation is very boring. You can't get out of the house, there is nothing on TV, videos on Youtube has got boring, the books I have are read already, I could sleep...But for how long?

Well, so this early evening, I was sitting on the swing of my balcony, with nice warm breeze on my face, it was peaceful. I could hear the "click click click" of the keyboard in the husband's home office, I could see those stupid pigeons on my neighbors balcony, in the opposite house a mother trying to feed her kid. It felt like some story book existence.

Then far somewhere, I heard the bells of a temple, I thought then, maybe...just maybe God will have a of book in each person's name. He will have many scriptwriters in his payroll, and all of them would be weaving a story for us everyday, their stories will depend on their mood that day. They will have targets for a year, say 100 happy days, 10 fight scenes, 100 romance scenes, 50 sad days, 105 random emotions days. The scriptwriters might bill according to the person's man days on earth. The book closes and goes into library after the person is dead. Every dead person might be employed as a scriptwriter after staying in heaven for like 10 years. A retired script writer maybe reborn on earth again.

How cool is that! I was grinning on my geniusness and I was almost on the verge of convincing myself of being one of the story books in God's library when my celestial thoughts were disturbed by a police siren on the main road. Sigh! So much for my devil's workshop.

#DAshTalks: The Fan

One of the late nights in this long weekend, Awin was sitting on the bed resting his back on the bed board with his Kindle and I was on the desk going something.

Awin: Dee, Can you switch on the fan

Me: Its near you

Awin: C'mon, its closer to you and I am sitting comfortably on the bed

*I jump out of the desk, land on the bed and slides right inside my blanket*

Me: I am lying snuggled inside my blanket, Switch on the fan

Awin *mumbles something inaudible*

Me *slowly creeps out of the bed and props on the desk before he has turned his back to the bed*

What he said after that is *beep beep beep beep*

BarAThon: Tiny Shoes

Day 5 of the #BarAThon

Ramu a small poor farmer lived on a lonely farm with his wife, and there were many many pixies and other fairies all around.
One morning in while Ramu went to the shed to feed his cows, he saw that the cows had been milked and fed, the chicken coop was cleaned, the farm was tilled.

He wondered who had done it, maybe it was his wife or the men who worked with him. When the laborers came to work he questioned them, but none of them knew anything about it.
The next night the same thing happened; no one went near the shed, but in the morning all the work was done.

The third night the Ramu made up his mind to find out who it was that was helping him, so he hid himself behind some hay, and lay there watching. The moon shone in and the shed was lit beautifully, but for a long time the Ramu heard and saw nothing.
Then suddenly he heard a sound of footsteps approching, and there was a little fairy carrying a heap of hay for the cow in his tiny hands. The little man was not a foot high. He was as pink as a cotton candy and had scarce a rag of clothes upon him. The little fairy didn’t even have shoes and his feet were all worn out.
He worked so hard that the sweat poured down his forehead, and now and then he stopped to wipe it away. Then he say in a sing-song voice "I sweat, I sweat, I sweat, I sweat"

Ramu was filled with admiration and gratitude, and the third time the little man cried “I sweat!” Ramu could hold his tongue no longer, but answered him, “That you do!”
No sooner had he spoke, the little fairy vanished in thin air.
PC: pintrest
The farmer waited for a while, but the little fairy man did not return. At last Ramu, went back home and told his wife what he say “You stupid!” she said, when he had made an end of the story. “You should never have spoken to him. The small folk cannot bear to be spoken to!”

Well, the damage was done, and now the only thing to do was to think of some way to coax the fairy back.
Early the next morning the Ramu’s wife suggested over breakfast
“did you say the fairy doesn’t have good clothes and shoes?”
Why not I will make a little suit of clothes for him, and tiny shoes too. We can keep it in the shed for him.”
Ramu agreed, they made pretty clothes for him and that night the fairy & Ramu became friends for life.
Now, every month Ramu gives the fairy new clothes and candies while in return the happy fairy does the work in the farm for Ramu.

PS: Why does this story sound something like a book that I used to read as a kid???

BarAThon: Caught Red Handed

Day 4 of the #BarAThon

Mike had an affair with his wife's best friend Claire. One evening, Mike took Claire to a garden for a good time. Incidentally, that garden was right next to Mike's 4 year old son's school. Mike's son - Joel saw them go into the garden and was super excited to tell his mother all about it.

Joel "Mom Mom..I saw Dad going into the garden with Aunt Claire and they...."

The furious mother cut his sentence there itself.

Mom "Joel, fine, you can say all of these when your father comes home"

After 2 hours, Mike comes home to see his wife sitting with her hands folded to her chest and her son sitting on the floor with his Lego blocks.

Mom "Joel, tell daddy what you saw today exactly what you told me"

Joel "I saw....I saw Dad going into the garden with Aunt Claire and they did exactly the same thing that you mom do with Uncle Bill"

"Never stop kids from expressing what they want to, Let them complete"

BarAThon: Fragile Lives

Day 3 of the #BarAThon Challenge

He was lying there alone, not knowing where he is. He is still dazed and confused as to what is going on around him. Nothing is really making any sense, the weird smell, so many of unfamiliar faces. Where was he?

His last memory was of him on a bike with his friend on the highway. Why were they on a bike? He wondered. Yes! It's Nishant's birthday. We were going to wish him. We were going fast on Sumer's new 1000cc sports bike

He was slowly trying to open his eyes to the bright light. He saw green curtain drawn near him, he smelt this peculiar hospital smell, he saw people moving swiftly. All seems to be very weird, that's when he hears a woman's voice. He strains his eyes to see to whom is she addressing to, she is talking to Amit, his elder brother. Amit looks so worried. Why?

He starts panicking on what he hears next..He hears the woman say "Your brother? has been calling for you ever since..By the way..his hand..its gone"

These words make him go hysterical. He starts panicking. He goes breathless. He starts screaming,. Hot tears are stung to his eyes. Nothing seems real anymore. He does not remember anything. What accident? Where is he? Who got him here? What happened?

He tries hard to look at his hand..but is not able to see anything. He looks harder and sees his hand wrapped up in something. His shirt is smeared with blood. His pants are torn.He feels no pain..He is not able to cry. He closes his eyes and wishes for a small ray of hope.

Just then the green curtain moves and he sees his friend with whom he was on the bike lying next to him with a sorry look in his eyes.
He hears Amit standing next to him and saying that he had met with an accident. Those few moments felt like a lifetime.
That's when he gave a loud wail.A wail of despair. A wail of helplessness. A wail of losing something very precious.

Two doctors appear from behind the curtains and unwrap his bloodied bandage and say with a faint smile "the hand is badly injured but it can be operated. don't worry"
Hearing these words made him want to laugh and cry at the same time. These words made him want to believe. He wanted to cling this little hope.
This was that moment, when he saw life. This was the moment, when he felt God

One moment of death

One moment of Forever

Mumbai

I may not miss Mumbai. I may like this city more than Mumbai in certain aspects. But, whichever part of the country I go, I take a bit of Mumbai with me.

Mumbai runs in my veins, its in my blood. There might be rush crowds, there are long travels in crowded trains, the real estate market might be the highest in this country, but there is so much warmth in the people. Those tired smiles in the trains, the trusting hawkers, the negotiating women, the corner vegetable vendor, make this city special.

There are floods, there are blasts, but the city's spirit comes alive when everyone is helping each other. The city's life is seen when people go to work immediately the next day after a blast. That is Mumbai

Not many shop "organic" vegetables, a bisleri water can at home is unheard of, but vada pav, pav bhaji, pani puri, bhel puri, sandwich, dabeli, gola, pom-pom idli are just familiar sounds.

Every festival celebrated so beautifully, the Ganpati dance, the dandiya raas, the kebabs and sheer khurmas, with a dash of Mumbai cannot be replicated anywhere in the world

My eyes light up when I hear "Mumbai" in movies or videos or articles. My ears are all alert when I listen to news about "Mumbai".

PC: makemytrip
I live a life that is way better than I was in Mumbai, but every now and then I get nostalgic. I may have planned to settle and live the next many years of my life in this city, but Mumbai will always be "my city". I may someday have kids in this city, but I will try to inculcate the "Mumbai" values in them.

If you love Mumbai city, this city loves you back. If you hate the crowds and fast pace, the city gives it back in return.

We Mumbaikars, we leave the city but its always "Mumbai meri jaan".
Because, Mumbai is not a city, Mumbai is dreams, Mumbai is heart, Mumbai is LIFE *chest fist*

PS: I get nostalgic once in a while

#DAshTalks: When Husband experiments

When the husband gets a new toy, and he starts to test it on the wife at some ungodly hour.

What happened after that? Well, I woke up, stood with my hands on my hip and gave that "Are you coming to sleep or not look" and the experiment continued to the next morning without the wife involved.

CTT: Bae-sick English

PC: buzzfeed
I do not know where the word "bae" originates from.

For a long time I didn't know what it meant until a teenage kid I know comes me and says "This is my bae and don't we make a swag couple"
I was like please write it in sane English so she writes "dis is ma bae n dun vee make a swag couple"

1. What is Bae? 2. What is Swag?

Reading that, I tell myself, what language it that? Even Google translate won't help me with this.

I have an aunt who teaches in a really good school, so over coffee I tell her this language and she said "you have no idea how it feels when kids try to fit in answers in 140 characters ignoring all the spelling and grammar"
It's a bad state to be in.

There are kids out there conquering the spelling bee contests and there are kids who are on spelling bae contests. They listen to only English songs with weird lyrics or party songs with absolutely no sensible lyrics. I feel old, I am old school, but I'm happy at least I have my language skills straight.

FYI

Some meme's of Facebook says "Bae is a Danish word for poop"

And a cousin said "Bae" meant "Before Anything Else"

*The Mumbaikar in my wakes up and says* "Kya hai bae?" *Hallelujah"

CTT: Travel & Bank balance

I take a bite of Pickwick biscuit, drop a few crumbs on my laptop that has a few social media sites open and very frequently I read people on social media sharing "I would travel and gather memories than gather a huge bank balance"

I wonder, how many of them really mean it.

I mean, frankly I can touch my heart and say, I would rather have a huge bank balance, a nice house of my own and limited travel memories than be broke, on the road and a lot of memories when I am old.

It's a personal opinion though.

CTT: Happy Father's Day, Appa

He cried when I cried

He stayed up all night to play with me, and went to work next morning while I slept peacefully

He got himself no new shirt, but brought me three new dresses instead

He taught me to make soap bubbles, He did it to make me smile

He stood in a long queue even while his legs ached to get me in a good school

We grew up together.

I turned rebellious, He turned more understanding

I screamed, He listened

I cried, He hugged

I left him & went with my friends while he sat home alone

We grew up more
A very old picture

I started to go to work, while he ended his tenure

I had problems, he gave me all his support

I was anxious, he taught me patience

We grew up some more

He found someone who would love me more

I was time for me to go and he cried more

Guess we never grew up

He still calls me "Child"

He still worries for me

His little girl, I will always be, lucky I am to have you around me

Appa, I love you, I always do, for everything you have done. Thank you

Happy Father's Day Appa.

CTT: Most Confusing Question in my life

Bangalore is one of the most versatile city I have been in. People from all over the country are here.

So, its very normal for people to ask "Whats your native?"

And that is the most confusing question of my life.

Why?

Well, I am born and brought up in Mumbai so I am a Maharastrian . I am an Iyer. My mother and father are from Kumbakonam & Pallakad respectively so I am partly from Tamil Nadu & Kerala. I am married to a guy from Chennai, so I am a Chennaite and I stay in Bangalore, so that makes me a bit of Kannadiga.

I can speak Marathi, Hindi, Iyer Tamil. I can speak not-so-fluent Chennai Tamil and Gujarati (staying in Mulund among Gujaratis helped). I can understand Malayalam & Kannada but cant speak both.

So, I just say I am a Cocktail.

Where are you from and Whats your native is not always an easy question to answer.

#DAshTalks Hair Color

I was super excited this Sunday. I have been thinking of getting a highlight on my hair for a while now and today I really got it done.
I was super scared, apprehensive & thought about going grey & bald, but when I saw the results I was dancing inside my head
I rushed home to surprise the husband

Me: Do I look different?

Awin: of course, your expensive facial is making your face glow

Me: Anything else?

Awin *blank look*

Me: Hint. Hair

Awin: oh, there is something on your hair

Me: DO. I. LOOK. DIFFERENT?

Awin *Blank look*

Me *resigned* I colored my hair

Awin: Oh, I thought the guy painting near the elevator dropped some paint on your hair. I was going to ask you to wash it off. Seriously

Me *raised hands* why did I even ask?

Story Story 6: Birthday

"I miss you" came the sms on his phone after three years.

Should I reply? Should I not?
Does she really miss me?
these were the thoughts that were running in his mind.

He missed her every single day. He missed her smile. He missed holding her hand and walking with her.
He was badly hurt the day she went away with that man. That day he promised that she would never talk to her or see her face ever again but he never stopped loving her.

*Ping* chimed his phone again

It was her name on the mobile phone screen again,.
"Happy Birthday" was the sms this time.

He held the phone so tight, that his palms turn red, any more pressure and the screen would have cracked.
With a small whisper he said to himself "She remembers"

In heart of hearts, he knew that he would gladly accept her back, but was a bit egoistic to make the first move.

The door bell rang with a shrill that resonated all over the house.

Slowly, he got up from his chair, with his head filled with her thoughts and opened the door to find her there with a cake and a little girl in her arms and tears in her eyes.

He was stunned, happy, confused. He didn't know how to react. She smiled and said

"Happy Birthday Dad"

And the little girl with her echoed "Happy Birthday Grandpa"

A young man stepped from behind her "Happy Birthday Dad"

On his 75th birthday, he got a the most precious gift. He got his daughter back. He got his family back

#DAshTalks His Phone My Answer

Awin, the husband has been bit with the "Elementary" series bug and has downloaded all the episodes and diligently watches them almost every evening.

So, seeing him with the laptop & earphone stuck to his ears & eyes glues to the screen is very normal.
Whenever, I want to talk to him, I pull off one of the earphones from his ear, say what I want to and plug it back into his ear

Me: Dinner at 9pm ok?

Awin: Sure

Me: I have made malai kofta and roti

Awin: Sure

Me: Let's go for that Batman movie this weekend

Awin: Sure

Me: The nuclear missile is standing in our balcony

Awin: Sure

Me: I flushed your phone

Awin: What the..? Did you? I know you are capable of it? but did you?

His phone is the answer to all my pray-ears

CTT: Car-fidence Gone

PC: Me @Sakleshpur Taken with Samsung S6
I got my driving license about a year back (Don't ask me how)
But, I can't drive

Well, I went to the driving classes, drove around empty roads when everyone is sleeping in their houses & thought that now I am a good driver.

How wrong I was when I was put in a real life traffic situation.

Scene 1

Very enthusiastically, I asked my husband that I wanted to drive in pitch Bangalore traffic.

I drove nicely, slowly on the extreme left of the road. At one point, near a tech park which is also a very heavy vehicular & traffic zone and also had a bus-stop..Guess where? On the extreme left, the left where I am supposed to be driving.

So, there is a traffic cop, he stopped the traffic, I braked the car in between two buses.

Buses honking, traffic cop screaming, walking people screaming, other vehicles honking. My husband who was in the passenger seat couldn't get out, because the bus was so close to my car that the door wont open.

There I was with cold hands and feet, a stalled car, honking people and big tears in my eyes. I think I started crying so bad that the cop might have actually pitied my poor embarrassed husband.

That day I lost a part of my confidence.

Scene 2

Weekend. Wide roads. Thin traffic. Sounds ideal for a rookie driver.
Well, it was ideal until we hit the red signal. I braked and stopped nicely at the red signal. But, I couldn't get my car started again.
The signal changed to Green 5 times, and I was still there.

Again my limbs ran cold, my eyes started tearing up, my husband beside me came in his consoling mode.

After a point, the other drivers realized that a no-good driver is sitting in the red car.

That day, I almost lost all of my confidence.

Scene 3

I wanted to boast my driving skills to daddy dearest. I took the car out in Mumbai, with husband next to me & Dad on the back seat. Again I stalled the car at a crucial turn, creating a choc-o-block. Though I managed to get my car started, after a million abuses.
On the rear view mirror, I saw my Dad terrified and clutching the seat covers so hard that I am sure his nails would have bore holes in that cover.

Scene 4

My car was parked on an incline, I wanted to take it to my husband so that he could avoid walking in the sun. I tried to reverse it with textbook technique, no one told me that I have to put extra accelerator on the incline. So, instead of going back my car went forward stood tilted like a peeing dog on the flower bed of my building. When my husband came back, he saw the car standing on three wheels with a scratch on the left head light.

Moral of the Scenes are; basically, I have lost my confidence in driving, and every time my husband urges me to drive, I make excuses and avoid it.
I so, want to drive. I seriously do. But, I can't gather guts to sit on the driver seat anymore.

God Help Me, Amen!
